Transforming Pregnancy School Through Innovation

The Ghana Health Service’s Pregnancy School Initiative is a remarkable programme that provides free maternal health information and practical advice to pregnant women and their families. As a public health institution, Community Health Nurses’ Training College (CHNTC) considers this initiative a crucial part of its efforts to make pregnancy safer and more enjoyable for expectant mothers.

At the Community Health Nurses’ Training College (CHNTC) CHPS Compound in the Sagnarigu District of the Northern Region, the Pregnancy School programme has been taken to new heights through the dedication and commitment of our Principal, midwives, and health team.

Under the leadership of Principal Hajia Abiba Nyari, the team comprising Latifa Abdulai, Nanawuy Issah, Portia K. Bobi, Rahamatu Tungteiya, Emmideme Khadijah, Hikma Sulemana, and Jemilatu Mohammed has introduced a range of engaging activities designed to encourage and motivate pregnant women to actively participate in the sessions.

These activities help participants learn about the danger signs of pregnancy and other important maternal health topics in an interactive and enjoyable environment. Some of the engaging activities include:

  • Best Dancers Competition
  • Best Models Competition
  • Summary Gurus Challenge
  • Male Involvement Activities

These initiatives are aimed at making Pregnancy School sessions more lively, interactive, and appealing, thereby increasing participation and improving learning outcomes. The sessions are held on the last Tuesday of every month, providing pregnant women with a welcoming platform to receive quality health education and support.

The innovative approach adopted by the team demonstrates CHNTC’s commitment to promoting maternal and child health through education, community engagement, and creative learning methods.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Principal Hajia Abiba Nyari and the entire health team for their dedication and innovative approach to maternal and child healthcare. Their efforts continue to make a positive impact on the lives of expectant mothers and their families, reinforcing the importance of quality health education within our communities.

Together, we are making Pregnancy School more engaging, informative, and impactful for every expectant mother.

Script Auditing Exercise

The Community Health Nurses’ Training College (CHNTC) is currently conducting its script auditing exercise as part of the institution’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards and ensuring fairness in student assessment.

The exercise brings together academic staff and examination officers to carefully review and verify marked examination scripts, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and transparency in the grading process. This important quality assurance activity helps uphold the integrity of the college’s examination system and guarantees that students receive results that accurately reflect their performance.

CHNTC remains dedicated to excellence in nursing education through continuous monitoring and improvement of its academic processes.
